HE MAKES THE BEST FILMS

also the album No Thank You by Coaltar of the Deepers has been heavy rotation the last couple days

I've recently discovered a lot of deep-house / dance cuts that I really really like.
These two are from the WipEout 2097 soundtrack. Typically I scorn video game OSTs for being a little too sentimental: often it feels as though you need to have played the game for it to have any meaning.

However, the WipEout 2097 soundtrack doesn't feel like this at all: a beautiful arrangement of artists from across the spectrum of dance electronic, from Daft Punk's Musique (a B-side to their early Da Funk release, Orbital's Petrol and many other artists which all contribute to create the rich world of WipEout.

Daft Punk - Musique
The Future Sound of London - We Have Explosive

4.

Very well-produced and bleacher-stomping rhythm
Sleigh Bells -Riot Rythm

Oh, and on the topic of the radio-friendly britpunk band Slaves, I think of this song every day I wake up:
Slaves - Wow!!!7AM

15.

The whole Dream Catalogue label, and PYRAMIDS.
The more that I listen and follow the recent twitter takeover (now deleted, but archived) the more that I believe every single artist on both labels is an outlet for one person's disassociative personality disorder.

16.

Oh, and tekres. I am absolutely fascinated with the sounds these labels are curating.

17.

Wu-Tang Clan - Uzi

@[77] Wow, these labels are very interesting, I always love labels that will put out music that is either unconventional or likely to not be well-loved or appreciated.

18.

Madeon - Pay No Mind (Yasutaka Nakata 'CAPSULE' Remix)
Everything Nakata Yasutaka has touched is golden; he is such an excellent producer. If you like this remix, I urge you to check out Capusule, Perfume, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, or similar.

Holy shit this live set is really good. The artist (Manila Killa) is on the Moving Castle label which I've listened to a lot but goddamn I never found this.

25.

I was listening to WKNC earlier and snagged some tickets for Men I Trust this weekend, so now I'm on a journey of trusting discovery

26.

@[53] My friend showed me that video and said that his aunt was the singer in that band. no joke.

27.

Blossoms - I can't Stand It
Just heard this on the BBC Radio 1 Early Morning. . . I'm a sucker for pop-ish music sometimes

I hadn't heard of this artist before, but I really like them. Thanks for sharing!

There is (was) a band from Greensboro, NC that's pretty noisy and has a remarkable meter... I like it a lot but it looks like they only made one EP Just Whales. Anyway here's my favorite song from that album.
Fastest Kid in the 5th Grade - Catching Bricks with My Face

39.

SAKANAMON - O-matsuri Landscape
I love everything about this JPop boy-band. The way they pair up-beat pop with such an impetuous meter makes them stand out for me. On top of that, they play with and borrow elements from other scenes of Japanese music and it all culminates in a record which has quickly become a favorite of mine.
Unfortunately, I hardly hear anything about state-side.

40.

@[123] this is GREAT °∀°
looking forward to checking out the whole album

41.

@[123]
Thanks for sharing! For some reason, I often find that the basslines of bands from Japan tend to stand out a lot more. Here are some other examples from two other bands.
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs - She is inside, he is outside
Number Girl - 裸足の季節 (Hadashi no Kisetsu)

42.

@[125] japanese punk/powerviolence gets their bass right too °∀°

tangentially related, but here's some forgotten and very early 2000s japanese emo or Jemo (pronounced jee-mo)

43.

I'm into Shibuya-kei. It's a mix of french-pop and western lounge with Japanese aesthetics and (more specificaly) those from Shibuya. This is an era of music that lasted from the early 1990's~2001.
Fantastic Plastic Machine - Bon Voyage & L'aventure Fantastique

SAVE ON EVERYTHING AT CHRISTMAS IN JULYYY

we out here smoking cloves and smoochin skulls babey

87.

I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee

And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue

He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in

"It is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter

To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella

And I look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos

I'm pretending
Not to see them
Instead
I pour the milk

I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor

Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of

And I'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies

When I'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head

There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?

No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own reflection

And I'm trying
Not to notice
That she's hitching
Up her skirt

And while she's
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Has gotten wet

Oh, this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As I'm listening

To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice...

this is a punk album i come back to a lot.
compared to their other content, and punk at large, this album is an oddity to me in that the instrumentation is really clean and minimal, without losing the punk edge
its almost lounge-y; a solid choice for early-morning and late-night drowsy punk listenin

96.

It's jungle / DnB from a '96 record called "Jungle Jazz"

I'm listening to an album by Ken Ishii. He made some of the music for Rez, the weirdest and possibly only futuristic musical rail-shooter for the PS2. The OST is really good and you should definitely play it if you have the opportunity.
