We're gonna fucking destroy the environment with fossil fuels and livestock farts. All those farts are gonna melt the ice caps and then florida and california will be under water. And temperatures will be so high that homeless people will die of heat strokes and you'll have to have an air conditioner 24/7, and it'll be too hot to go outside. Animals will die off in droves. We will follow soon after. Elites in their mansions and fancy cars won't think things are bad, but people in developing countries are fucked, and the economic issues of our time will intensify and the middle class in western countries will also decline.

I think Elon Musk is extremely harmful to the environment in the sense that his investors are rich businessmen who think it's okay to harm the Earth's environment just as long as Elon builds them rockets so they can go to space and maybe live on Mars while the rest of us filthy plebs live in a desolate, unlivable environment, in absolute squalor while they're drinking martinis and eating caviar and using the latest iDildos. If Elon didn't make this fantasy seem real, maybe rich people at the helm of highly-polluting companies would think that maybe they should do something differently to avoid catastrophe.

You aren't going to stop this problem by expecting the rich to solve it.

The rich get richer because the poor rely on them.

  • Author: iUtjgb1J

Nah, a lot of rich people are predatory. There's this capitalist pipe dream idealist bullshit about contributing more to society resulting in making more money, so clearly the richest people are the biggest contributors to progress or work or whatever. While it's true that SOME rich people deserve their money, others are awful. Oil barons are fucking up our planet so they can make more money. Some people are born into wealth and just live off the profits of a hedge fund for the rest of their life.

Rich capitalists who want economic growth so they can make more money are contributing to unsustainable resource depletion and irreparable environmental damage.

Yeah, complain about it on the internet until the rich decide to be nice and fix everything for you.
Are you seriously that naive, or are you trying to construct a doomsday prophecy fantasy so your shitty actions in life have no consequences?
Or do you somehow get off on being one of the "chosen ones" that have top secret access to information that the world is going to end, like how conspiracy theorists on the internet brag about their theory on how the world is going to end is right?

I have trouble understanding the thought processes of somebody that: 1) Sees a problem. 2) Blames it all on a certain group. 3) Expects that group to fix it.

  • Author: hB01+s0R

I highly doubt that >>3 was in any way saying that the rich should fix the problems. Don't assume that everyone on the internet is either a statist or an ancap.

I further doubt that the inevitable Malthusian nightmare described here eschews in any way the responsibility and power that the masses have to bring about the change necessary (the problem being, defeatist [post-]christian ideologies which enable the unwilling to justify the self-fulfilling prophecies in which they participate).

If I may, I believe our compatriot here was shifting the interpretation of this power dynamic, that is, where you suggest that poor rely on the rich, he suggests that they prey on the poor. Personally, I would modify both: the weakest prey on the ignorant. Certain individuals of the lower class do their part to become the change they would like to see in the world, thereby mitigating environmental collapse, tempering their consumption of meats, water, energy, and fossil fuels to levels which (were they extrapolated unto the population at large), would result in a relatively sustainable culture.

However, many individuals of the lower classes refuse to revaluate the desires of their flesh (i.e. the hedonic/utilitarian goods) and become prey to the rich, who provide them with a gross excess of creature comforts. In doing so, the rich actualize into grotesque caricatures of the human cattle upon whom they prey, living in "luxury" which effectively equates to consuming more environmentally detrimental foodstuffs/entertainment &c.; the best examples of which being the 1st class cabin, private jets, high-quality beef, &c. Even suites and mansions require more labor, hence more caloric intake for the laborers.

I've gotten on a tangent. Anyway, I would further clarify, that the first step to recovery is admitting there's a problem, so yes, bitching on the internet is relatively important, especially considering that the posters here belong to (or will belong to) the intellectual/skilled laborial class, which, up through the first half of the 20th century played a crucial role in the dramas of tyrants, the maintenance of culture, and response to the changing world; therefore, one ought to discuss these issues here most of all.

And what would you suggest, a vain protest? Those have always astonished me at their absurdity, for they require permission from the very classes one protests. "Sir, might I please assemble in order to publicly express my discontent?" to which the reply is "Might as well, since it utterly cannot change anything even a modicum."

Millions of people would need to die. The system is so up its own ass, that any attempt to deconstruct it would be met with extreme violence. Trying to form a parallel community with its own money? Land taxes get you axed. Trying to start your own self-sufficient economy? You have to compete with the most efficient economic machine in existence.

Any attempt at self-assertion will be met with violence from the system; you are a cog in the machine and you must LOVE it, you must NURTURE it even if it uses you like a machine. Because of this, ^we^ must return that violence, I'm starting to think that it will be the only way, unfortunately.

Not necessarily.
"He who thus domineers over you has only two eyes, only two hands, only one body, no more than is possessed by the least man among the infinite numbers dwelling in your cities; he has indeed nothing more than the power that you confer upon him to destroy you. Where has he acquired enough eyes to spy upon you, if you do not provide them yourselves? How can he have so many arms to beat you with, if he does not borrow them from you? The feet that trample down your cities, where does he get them if they are not your own? How does he have any power over you except through you?"

-Etienne de la Boetie

Furthermore, you ignore the fact that most people love to dominate and to be dominated. The average person is a disgusting switch--the average person is embodied in the allied soldiers who raped French girls and blamed the black soldiers. Uncle Sam's sub, domming someone else, and blaming someone else for their problems. This oxymoronic sado-masochistic clusterfuck composes the greater part of our concitizens' psyche. If you could only solve this...

Otherwise, you need only look at the USSR, Iraq, and certain decolonized states to find out what happens when you eliminate one hegemonic force, without having cultivated freedom of spirit among the inhabitants. That same tyranny leaps forward again.

The people that are the systems arms are more and more hypnotized by the system itself every year. If not being dominated means that one must dominate something else? “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?"

and you think thats ever gonna end?

  • Author: iP/Nz2LE

>not being dominated means that one must dominate something else
That's what I'm saying. It doesn't mean that, BUT the average mentality holds that everyone must be a brick inbetween a higher brick and lower brick. The people abused by people higher in the hierarchy accept it as the price they pay for abusing someone lower. I.e. working whites in the Jim Crow south, family/religious elders in poverty, men of rank in the military, &c.

A truly strong individual would rather build up his fellow man and live freely in harmonic cooperation AND competition to raise each other up even higher. Such a person would realize that only the weak desire to dominate others (outside of the bedroom; that's different).

Anything that's been started can end--must end actually, defeatist-anon.

  • Author: qxeG5khU

Im not being defeatist you fucking nong. If this system continues and no one chooses to stand up to it, we will be destroyed. Im not bending over for the machine god to plug me into the system. Its a waste of time being in there, mazes within mazes.

>florida and california will be under water
Nothing of value was lost.
>temperatures will be so high that homeless people will die of heat strokes
Nothing of value was lost.
>you'll have to have an air conditioner 24/7
That's counter productive. Air conditioners make more hot air than cold air, meaning they have a net increase on temperature. Running AC 24/7 is silly.
>Animals will die off in droves. We will follow soon after
Nothing of value was lost.

Long after we are gone, Gaia will once again return to balance.

Misanthrope-chan, when was the last time Gaia made a yuri anime? Or broke her own rules? Or valuated things with no inherent value? Or did an OoT speedrun? Or composed a requiem? Or basically anything beautiful or cool? Or observed herself (as things cannot exist in the sense we know existence without being observed)?

Checkmate atheists.
